my place and yours

This weeks theme for 'my place and yours' comes from my bricole ... 'your secret weapon' she asks... I thought about it, and all I could really come up with is this. My iron. Gods I love it. To the amusement of some. But I would be lost without it. I find it near to impossible to sew without it. Everything looks so much better if you press as you go. Not so long ago, I bought a special iron shoe for said secret weapon. I'm loving not having to use a pressing cloth, not scorching fabric etc... Yep. This baby is my secret weapon.

More places here. Thanks Pip for hosting.

That is incredible. To me an iron is a necessary evil that I only love for sewing not for clothes. Ironing is one of my big bugbears. Cherrie

I've heard of a horse shoe, but never an iron shoe. You crafty ladies teach me new things all the time.

My iron lives in the sewing room, never sees clothing, only projects. Why is it the bulk of clothes that do need ironing are worn in the summer when it's too hot to use the iron?

I love my iron too. Even though it spits at me, and leaves a dirty trail in it's path sometimes. I think I may have to invest in an iron shoe. Great weapon.

I'm glad some irons have friends. I've had to make friends with mine again since starting a quilt. I'm coming back to read your home birth story - well done!

brilliant. note to self, "get one asap". it will save many fairy dresses and mermaid costumes from the molten sun setting of my iron

I did smile when I saw the photo but I'm with you totally of it's importance in sewing. It's a fine looking iron too!

So the iron is kind of like Carrie Bradshaw? And the shoe thing is kind of like your iron's Manolos? And you are kind of like Patricia Field - only you style appliances? Have I got it right?! Awesome. Love it.

I know what you mean very important that pressingt as you go thing. I like the idea of an ironing shoe-never seen one of them!

I like the idea of the ironing shoe but what other styles and colours does it come in?

Surely they can be as much of a fashion statement as lambswool moccasins, dr martens, blundstones, birkenstocks and manolo blahniks?

surely? Maybe?
